Senator KEMP (12 midnight) —I support the remarks of my colleague Senator Parer, but there are a number of matters that I would like to have clarified in relation to the amendment moved by the Australian Democrats.

  Senator Bell said that there was nothing in the 15-word policy, as he described it, of the Victorian Kennett coalition as it went to the election which mentioned that it would abolish the Industrial Relations Commission. Could I ask Senator Bell whether he has actually read the industrial relations policy that was put out by the Kennett coalition before the election? If he has read it, why did he inform the Senate—and I think I heard him correctly—

Senator Bell —You did.

Senator KEMP —that the Kennett coalition prior to becoming the Government had not signalled that the Industrial Relations Commission would be abolished?
