Senator Knowles asked the Minister representing the Minister for Community Services and Health, upon notice, on 27 June 1989:

(1) How often is the `Inpharmation Bulletin' printed.

(2) How many copies are printed.

(3) To how many people is it distributed.

(4) Other than pharmacists, who else receives it.

(5) What is the cost of preparation and printing.

(6) What is the cost of distribution.

(7) How many other similar bulletins are prepared for other sections of the health profession.

(8) What are the answers to (2) to (6) above for other bulletins, if they exist.

Senator Cook —The Minister for Housing and Aged Care has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

(1) Three issues have been produced-November 1988, March 1989 and May 1989.

(2) 6,000 per issue.

(3) Approximately 5,600.

(4) No one else.

(5) Approximately $2,600 per issue.

(6) Approximately $2,200 per issue.

(7) and (8) Other bulletins distributed regularly by the Department of Community Services and Health are:

Australian Prescriber

4 times annually.

40,000 to 50,000 copies per issue.

Distributed to doctors, dentists, pharmacists, medical students, medical training institutions.

Printing and distribution approximately $50,000 per issue.

Residential Care News

Every 6 to 8 weeks.

Approximately 9,000 copies per issue.

Nursing home and hostel managers, Directors of Nursing and other key personnel in the health care industry.

Printing and distribution approximately $5,500 per issue.

New Times

3 times annually.

100,000 copies per issue.

Distribution to doctors, aged care providers, senior citizens organisations, community health centres.

Printing and distribution approximately $40,000 per issue.

Communicable Diseases Intelligence


3,000 copies per issue.

On request to doctors and teaching hospitals.

Printing and distribution approximately $4,000 per issue.

Home and Community Care Update

3 times annually.

Approximately 6,000 per issue.

Distribution to Home and Community Care service providers, home nurses, meal delivery services.

Printing and distribution approximately $5,500 per issue.
