(Question No. 1083)

Senator Newman asked the Minister for Defence Science and Personnel, upon notice, on 16 June 1989:

(1) What progress has been made towards implementing the CDF's directive to move towards three-year postings and back-to-back postings in the same locations.

(2) If the answer to (1) above is difficult and time consuming to obtain could the Minister say whether the department has available a data base to provide such an answer; if not, why not, and when will such a data base be provided.

Senator Richardson —The Minister for Defence Science and Personnel has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

(1) and (2) Every endeavour is being made to conform to CDF's directive in this regard, however Service operational and training requirements prevent the achievement of this goal in some cases. The small sample gathered so far is insufficient to provide meaningful statistical data on the implementation of the directive.
