Senator BROWNHILL —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) notes with concern:

(i) the downgrading of Australia's credit rating by Moody's Investor Services from AA1 to AA2;

(ii) that this consistent downward slide has occurred while the management of the economy has been in the hands of the world's so-called best Treasurer (Mr Keating); and

(iii) that the Treasurer continues to maintain his arrogant belief in his own abilities, despite the fact that this downward rating is but one indication of international concern at the Federal Labor Government's inability to manage the economy; and

(b) calls on the Government to stop listening to the Treasurer's economic rhetoric and realise that the direction he is taking this country is on a dangerous downward economic path.
