Senator HAINES (Leader of the Australian Democrats)(9.48) —I rise simply to indicate that the Australian Democrats will not be supporting their own amendments. I will now hand over to Senator Bishop to do whatever she likes in the way of rubbishing me for that.

The CHAIRMAN —Do you wish to seek leave to withdraw your amendment, Senator Haines?

Senator HAINES —If that is the easiest way around this. I sought leave originally to reput them last week when the Opposition's amendment to exempt the earnings tax did not include pool superannuation trusts. There has been a considerable move in other directions since then. If it is the wish of the Committee that those amendments be withdrawn, I am certainly prepared to seek leave to do that.

Amendments-by leave-withdrawn.
