Senator COOK (Minister for Resources)(10.26) —The answer to Senator Patterson's fourth question is no. She restated that question, which was: Does the family medicine program use Health Insurance Commission payments as a tool to monitor and identify those practices whose caseloads are such that they may not provide trainees with adequate general practice experience? The answer to that question is no. The reason why the answer is no-among other reasons-is that to do so may be an infringement of the secrecy provisions of the Health Insurance Act. That is probably a sufficient answer on this occasion. Senator Patterson then elaborated. I will take the comments she has made on board and report them to the Minister. No doubt he will take note of them and respond to them appropriately.
