Senator BROWNHILL —by leave-I present to the Senate the following petition from 243 petitioners, which is not in conformity with the Standing Orders as it is not in the correct form and does not contain a prayer at the end thereof, requesting that the Senate urge the Government to approve the construction of a third runway at Sydney (Kingsford-Smith) Airport, to upgrade existing radar and air traffic control facilities and to begin construction of a second airport at Badgerys Creek:

To the Honourable the President of the Senate and Members of the Senate in the Parliament assembled in Parliament, I wish to petition that the Government give immediate consideration to:

1. immediate approval for the construction of a third runway at Mascot.

2. upgrade existing radar and other traffic control facilities to enable Australia's high safety record to be maintained.

3. immediate start of new second airport at Badgery's Creek.
