Senator PETER BAUME(4.11) —in reply-There are only two minutes remaining for this debate. I want to thank Senator McLean for his support as a brother officer from the same regiment many years ago. If the choice of theme and choice of speakers is significant the choice of Senator Aulich and the choice of the speech he made is quite eloquent. The subject which we proposed was deliberately narrow. Senator Aulich chose to dwell on areas of agreement and to skate over areas of concern about the Army Reserve. That is a pity. He must have had a prepared speech or briefing and was not going to depart from it. It is a pity that in those circumstances he was selected to represent the Government in what we think is an important matter which affects the Army Reserve. It is now time to put the question and hopefully, to record the support of the Senate for this motion.

Question resolved in the affirmative.
