Senator AULICH —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) welcomes the unanimous decision of the Administrative Committee of the Australian Labor Party, Tasmania Branch, to support the agreement entered into between the Parliamentary Labor Party and the Green Independent Members of Parliament which seeks to:

(i) maintain stable government in Tasmania,

(ii) create a more open, community-responsive style of government,

(iii) enable individual members of both Houses of Parliament to play a greater role in the legislative process and development of government policy,

(iv) enhance the role of Parliament, and

(v) introduce much-needed social, economic, environmental and parliamentary reforms to Tasmania; and

Senator Alston-What is your address? Did you read about this in the newspapers?

Senator AULICH —Mr President, I cannot hear myself read above the noise that Senator Alston is making. On 28 June Senator Alston will find out who is in government in Tasmania. My notice of motion continues:

(b) notes that the Administrative Committee of the ALP in Tasmania represents the widest cross section of the rank and file members of the ALP in that State.
