Senator SCHACHT —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) condemns the Chinese leadership for murdering several hundred of their own citizens who were peacefully demonstrating for democracy;

(b) declares that Deng Xiaoping and Li Peng have disgraced themselves and the Chinese Government that, and that by their actions they are now worse than the fascist warlords who plagued China in the past;

(c) declares further its full support for the chinese people in their demand for greater democracy; and

(d) calls on the Australian Government and other Western democracies to take all appropriate action against the present Chinese regime whilst it continues to murder its own people and refuses to enter into meaningful discussions with the Chinese people to achieve democracy.
