Senator WATSON —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) notes:

(i) the concerns of the Tasmanian Chamber of Mines that the coalition agreement between the Labor Party and the so-called Green Independents will be a disaster for the future of the mining industry in Tasmania,

(ii) that the coalition agreement would lock up one-third of the mineral resources of the State,

(iii) that in locking up such a large proportion of Tasmania's assets, future jobs in the mining and support industries will be denied,

(iv) that the coalition agreement could devastate many mining communities and lead to high youth unemployment and an exodus of young people from the State; and

(b) calls on the Labor Party to repudiate all aspects of the coalition agreement which will destroy the mining and exploration industry in Tasmania.
