Senator ARCHER —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) notes with regret and concern that, notwithstanding incontrovertible undertakings to their respective supporters by all the parties involved that there could be no liaison, coalition or other form of collaboration between them, it is currently reported that there would now seem to be some form of so-called accord between Mr Michael Field, on behalf of the remaining members of the Tasmanian Parliamentary Labour Party, and 5 other unco-ordinated Independents with a view to seeking to be recognised as a potential Government for the State of Tasmania; and

(b) further notes the scant regard to previously reported undertakings given by at least one of the parties, as to: supporting the majority party, not participating in motions of confidence, but guaranteeing passage of the Budget, and expresses considerable concern that in view of their more recent repudiation of these undertakings earlier given to their supporters, that they can no longer be considered to be sufficiently reliable to pursue the degree of reasonable responsibility necessary to maintain Government of the State of Tasmania.
