Senator Boswell asked the Minister representing the Minister for Administrative Services, upon notice, on 1 March 1989:

In relation to the Government's decision on combined shipping services to the Cocos (Keeling) Islands and Christmas Island, and cognisant of the course of action under the Westminster system incumbent on Ministers who mislead Parliament, does the Minister for Administrative Services stand by his statement in his joint press release with the Minister for the Arts, Sport, the Environment, Tourism and Territories of 2 February 1989 that ``the Government's normal tendering procedures had been strictly adhered to and the principles of probity, best value, equal opportunity and fair dealing were faithfully applied''; if not, why not.
