Senator PATTERSON(3.20) —I appreciate the Minister's answer. He still has not assured me that there will not be more problems with nursing homes in Victoria but I can assure him that I will keep watching this because I feel so strongly about it. The Minister did say he would give me an answer to these questions very quickly. On 13 April I asked in Estimates Committee F for details of the number of current nursing home residents in various categories-categories 1 to 5-broken down into numbers in particular types of nursing homes. On Tuesday 9 May I was provided with answers to this question. The information from the Department of Community Services and Health showed the numbers as at 31 January 1989. Honourable senators can imagine that I was quite surprised to learn that on 24 April the same type of information had been supplied to the industry, except that the Department was able to give figures as recent as 31 March 1989. I ask the Minister why the Department has given me figures for January when clearly figures for March were available? Why did the Department take until 9 May to provide any figures at all in answer to my question when more up to date figures were provided by the Department to other people on or before 24 April?
