Senator ARCHER —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) notes with deep concern that despite the UN Commission on Human Rights' investigation into the deplorable situation in Romania, the destruction of villages and the forced re-location of their inhabitants has already begun;

(b) deplores the lack of condemnation on the part of the Government of the blatant violation of human rights by the Romanian authorities; and

(c) calls on the Government to use every means at its disposal to halt activities by the Romanian authorities related to the destruction of villages in Transylvania, indeed throughout Romania, and to the forced re-location of ethnic minorities.
