Senator COULTER —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate notes-

(a) the discovery that the Chinese cucumber Trichosanthes kirilowii contains an agent which has useful properties for the treatment, and possibly cure, for AIDS;

(b) that the majority of Earth's plants have still not been analysed for potentially useful drugs and other chemicals;

(c) that species of plants are being lost globally and in Australia, at an increasingly rapid rate; and

(d) that Chinese cucumber provides yet a further example of the extreme importance of preserving the rich genetic diversity of the planet.
