Senator CHANEY —My question is to the Leader of the Government in the Senate. Is the Government giving consideration, in the context of its deliberations over oil pricing policy, to the possibility of deferring, reducing or cancelling the income tax cuts promised for September? If it is not, will the Minister reaffirm the Government's commitment to introduce the tax cuts?

Senator BUTTON —I reaffirm the Government's commitment to introduce the tax cuts. Of course, in the consideration of the oil price issue, the extent of the income tax cuts will have to be taken into account.

Senator Chaney —Oh, well!

Senator BUTTON —Nobody is kind enough to ask me a supplementary question so let me say again, in a way which is beyond misinterpretation: The Government is committed to the income tax reductions announced previously; they will go ahead.
