Senator GARETH EVANS (Minister for Resources and Energy) —I propose that these two Bills be debated cognately with the Customs Tariff (Stand-by Duty) Bill 1985, which I understood was the case.

Senator Durack —No, I am not ready to debate that; it is a separate item.

The DEPUTY PRESIDENT —Order! Is it the wish of the Senate that those Bills be debated cognately?

Senator Durack —No. I am prepared to debate the two Bills cognately, but not a third Bill which Senator Evans rings in at the last minute.

Senator GARETH EVANS —It was an Opposition suggestion, which we are trying to accommodate.

The DEPUTY PRESIDENT —Order! By motion of the Senate, the first two Bills are being taken through all their stages together. Senator Durack can speak to those Bills. I call Senator Durack.
