To the Honourable the President and members of the Senate in Parliament assembled; the humble petition of the undersigned citizens of Australia respectfully showeth-

That we deplore the discriminatory proposal to introduce a National Identity Card as outlined in the Government's September 1985 Tax Package.

The proposal is a gross invasion of an individuals privacy and no matter how mild in introduction will quickly become an Orwellian monster which will mutilate forever the traditional freedoms of Australians, for which thousands of gallant men and women have laid down their lives in time of war.

In time the proposal could lead to a situation just as horrific as Hitler's Germany and Moscow's KGB.

Your Petitioners therefore humbly pray that the Senate in Parliament assembled will reject the National Identity Card proposal.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
