Senator TOWNLEY —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) aware that the private sector has had extreme restrictions imposed upon it with regard to the deductability of hospitality and entertainment expenses;

(b) conscious that the Federal Government should treat all Australians in a similar manner; and

(c) being sure that the same restrictions that apply to those in the private sector should apply to those who work in the public sector

is persuaded that the Ministers should answer the Questions on Notice Nos. 572-579 of Senator Withers, which relate to the amount allocated by each Department and to every statutory authority for which a Minister has authority, for hospitality and entertainment; the guidelines that were in force at 1 September 1985, and the new guidelines, following the Treasurers `Reform of the Australian Taxation System' statement made on 19 September 1985 before the Senate continues with the Taxation Laws Amendment Bill (No. 4) 1985 which is presently before the Senate in which the severe entertainment restrictions are imposed upon the private sector.
