Senator Foreman asked the Minister representing the Minister for Aviation, upon notice, on 15 October 1985.

(1) What number of international travellers departed from Adelaide International Airport as a weekly average during the first 9 months of 1985.

(2) What increase, if any, do these figures represent over average weekly departures for the same period in 1984 and 1983.

(3) What number of international travellers arrived from overseas points of embarkation directly at Adelaide International Airport as a weekly average during the first 9 months of 1985.

(4) What increase, if any, do these figures represent over average weekly arrivals for the same period in 1984 and 1983.

The following table provides the information sought in respect of questions (1) and (2) and a qualified response to questions (3) and (4).

The figures cover:

(i) revenue passengers (i.e. those paying 25% or more of the standard air fare, as defined by the International Civil Aviation Organisation)

(ii) scheduled international airline services; statistics on non-scheduled services are not available

(iii) embarkations and disembarkations (i.e. transit passengers are excluded)

Statisitics are not kept on direct arrivals at international airports from overseas points of embarkation. Therefore the above arrivals statistics relate to total international arrivals at Adelaide International Airport i.e. they include international arrivals via other Australian Airports.
