To the Honourable the President and members of the Senate in Parliament assembled. The petition of certain citizens of Australia respectfully showeth:

That we the undersigned are totally opposed to the Australian Bill of Rights Bill 1985 as

The said Bill seeks to give the Federal Government inordinate power and control over the State Governments of Australia and this petition notes that this action is power not acquired by referendum as required by our Commonwealth Constitution.

The Australian Bill of Rights Bill 1985 seeks to give inordinate power and control over local government bodies all over Australia, and this acquisition of power is in abrogation of the Commonwealth Constitution.

and therefore immediately request that the Government withdraw the said Bill of Rights.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
