Senator MACKLIN(4.16) —I refer to clause 47 as it relates to veterans aged 70 and over. I ask the Minister what is the Government's intention with the pension to the over-70s, which has not been increased since 1978. The buying power of that pension has, of course, been eroded by inflation by some 32 per cent in that time. The problems faced by many of those veterans because of the way their pension is structured are forcing them back into full time labour, although many of them are now quite elderly. I would be interested to know whether the Minister has any view on that matter.

Clauses agreed to.

Clause 54 (Pension reduction amounts).
