Senator GIETZELT (Minister for Veterans' Affairs)(8.14) —Senator Sir John Carrick has raised a number of important issues in respect of the Royal Commission into British Nuclear Tests in Australia between 1952 and 1963. He asked whether the Government will make public its submission to that Royal Commission. The Government has already made that document public and a copy can be made available to Senator Sir John Carrick or for that matter to any other person who wishes to examine the Government's submission to that important inquiry. In respect of his general questions, the Government proposes to table the Commission's report in the current session of parliament. That means that in the next day or so the report will be presented to the House of Representatives, and I imagine that it will be simultaneously presented in the Senate. However, I am advised that the Government does not propose to offer any public comment on the matters raised in the report until it has been tabled. At this stage, I cannot make any other comment in respect of the matters raised by the honourable senator.
