Senator VIGOR(5.37) —I have some questions in relation to the tourism overseas promotion scheme, on which some questions were asked in Estimates Committee D. The tourism overseas promotion scheme makes available $5m for use in promoting tourism, essentially under the ministerial guidelines that allow the Minister for Sport, Recreation and Tourism (Mr John Brown) an enormous amount of latitude. How many applications are expected to be processed by the end of the financial year? What is the budget for this? What is the anticipated total of the sums expected to be sought by those applicants? Will payments be given on a first come, first served basis or will there be some type of quarterly target or some other means of assessing what is likely to be expended on the scheme on a month by month basis?
