Senator GRIMES (Minister for Community Services)(11.48) —I am sure that they do not exist in this country because there have been so few home births in this country in recent times-in the last 20 or 30 years-that I suggest statistics would be meaningless, except perhaps in regard to the Aboriginal community, where other circumstances apply. I am sure there are statistics from the United Kingdom, where home births have been much more common than they have in the past. But I certainly could not imagine that there would be any reliable statistics in this country in modern times.
