Senator ARCHER(10.24) —The Opposition does not support the motion moved by Senator Harradine. We accept that Senator Harradine has raised an issue of principle which could well be the basis of separate legislation. The effect of the motion would be the rejection of all senators' and members' entitlements, if only on a temporary basis, when this clearly is not what Senator Harradine has in mind. The Opposition does not find the vehicle suggested by Senator Harradine to be the appropriate one in the circumstances.
