Senator LEWIS —by leave-On behalf of all members of the Standing Committee on Regulations and Ordinances-it is a most bipartisan committee, as everyone knows-I place on record in the Senate our appreciation of the very worthy services of Senator Coates as Chairman of the Committee. Since this Government took office in 1983 Senator Coates has been Chairman of the Committee. He has served very well. It is a rather more onerous task than most people would appreciate. An enormous amount of reading, understanding and application must be put in by the Chairman. Senator Coates has served the Committee and the Senate very well.
