That the Bill be now read a second time.

The speech read as follows-

Pursuant to accepted arrangements relating to the Parliament's appropriations and staffing, I present the Appropriation (Parliamentary Departments) Bill 1985-86.

The purpose of the Bill is to appropriate moneys of the Consolidated Revenue Fund for the recurrent and capital expenditures of the Parliamentary Departments for the year ending 30 June 1986.

The total amount sought is $45,333,000. Of this amount, $19,535,000 was authorised by the Supply (Parliamentary Departments) Act 1985-86, the balance of $25,798,000 being sought in this Bill. Details of the proposed expenditures are set out in schedule 2 to the Bill. I commend the Bill to the Senate.
