Senator TOWNLEY —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) noting the cost of unemployment benefits being paid to New Zealanders living in Australia is some $63m per annum; and

(b) recognising that Australia's economy is reportedly going downhill, as indicated by the lack of strength of the Australian dollar, and can no longer afford `free lunches' for New Zealanders-

calls upon the Federal Government to re-examine the `open door policy' by which any New Zealander can enter Australia without the same immigration procedure as applies to those from the rest of the world.
