Senator HILL —My question is directed to the Minister representing the Minister for Aviation. I refer to the question I asked him yesterday concerning the South Australian Ombudsman and Qantas Airways Ltd Board member, Mary Beasley, which question was not answered. I refer to Press reports today that a meeting took place last night between the Aviation Minister, the Qantas Chairman and the Acting Prime Minister concerning the matter. I refer also to reports that she was expected to resign from the Qantas Board today or face possible dismissal. I ask the Minister: What are the allegations against her? Have they been substantiated? When did the Minister first become aware of the allegations? When did the Minister first advise the South Australian Premier of the allegations?

Senator GIETZELT —Senator Hill knows that I represent the Minister for Aviation in this place. I have been informed that this morning he received and accepted Miss Beasley's resignation from the Board of Qantas Airways Ltd. I will refer any other matters raised to the Minister.
