Senator WALSH(11.45) —You silly little man. What I said was implicitly endorsed by the Public Accounts Committee and the reason was that there was no response.

Senator Walters —This is misleading the Committee completely.

Senator WALSH —Oh, you little fool.

Senator Messner —Mr Temporary Chairman, I raise a point of order.

The TEMPORARY CHAIRMAN (Senator Jessop) —Senator Walsh, I ask you to withdraw the words `you little fool'.

Senator WALSH —The `little' or `fool'?

The TEMPORARY CHAIRMAN —I ask you to withdraw both.

Senator Messner —And the earlier remark too, Mr Temporary Chairman, about Senator Watson.

The TEMPORARY CHAIRMAN —I also ask you to withdraw the other remark. I found that offensive too.

Senator WALSH —What, the `silly', the `little' or the `man'?

The TEMPORARY CHAIRMAN —I found it offensive.

Senator WALSH —I withdraw any implication that he is silly, any implication that he is small and any implication that he is a man.

The TEMPORARY CHAIRMAN —I ask you to make an unqualified withdrawal. It is a sensitive issue. We know that you have a peculiar sense of humour but I would like you to make an unqualified withdrawal.

Senator WALSH —I withdraw, Mr Temporary Chairman.
