Senator Colston asked the Minister representing the Minister for Communications, upon notice, on 20 August 1985:

(1) Which post offices have opened in Tasmania since 3 May 1983 and on what date did each office commence operations.

(2) Which post offices have permanently closed in Tasmania since 3 May 1983 and when did each closure occur.

(3) Which post offices in Tasmania have been renamed since 3 May 1983; what were their original names; when was each office renamed; and what are the new names.


Senator Walsh —The Minister for Communications has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question, based on information provided by the Australian Postal Commission:

(1) No post offices or post office agencies have opened in Tasmania during the period 3 May 1983 to 20 August 1985.

(2) The following post office agencies have been closed permanently in Tasmania during the period 3 May 1983 to 20 August 1985.
