To the Honourable the President and members of the Senate in Parliament assembled: This petition of concerned citizens of Australia respectfully showeth that:

Uranium mining and processing is dangerous to the health and well-being and ecology of the Earth and its citizens.

By-products of uranium are toxic for periods of up to 500,000 years, and are an intrinsic part of the production of nuclear weapons.

Existing safeguards are inadequate, and are not properly monitored.

The policy of the Australian Government permits the entry into Australian territory of vessels and aircraft without the assurance that they are not nuclear powered or armed.

Such vessels pose a threat to both the security and well-being of Australia and its citizens.

The presence of foreign military and communication bases on Australian soil seriously endangers the health and well-being of Australia and its citizens.

Your petitioners therefore humbly pray that your honourable senators will take cognisance of the above and take immediate action to remove the above dangers.

Your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
