Senator VALLENTINE —I direct my question to the Minister representing the Minister for Defence. In the light of plans to upgrade the naval facilities at Jervis Bay and at Stirling in Western Australia and the report by the Australian Labor Party working group on visits by foreign naval ships that recommends a dispersal of United States of America ship visits from that State, I ask: Firstly, how many United States nuclear-capable ship visits to Australia are scheduled in 1986? Secondly, is there to be a significant shift to east coast visits? If so, what will be the extent of this shift?

Senator GARETH EVANS —I will take the question on notice.
