To the Honourable President and the members of the Senate in Parliament assembled. The petition of the undersigned citizens of Australia respectfully showeth:

1. That the proposed new Customs House Building in Fremantle will accomodate 630 Commonwealth Government Employees from seven Departments and will service many Fremantle residents; and that both staff and clients of the Departments housed in the new building will have need of childcare facilities.

2. That the non inclusion of childcare facilities in the plans for the new building is contrary to the spirit of the Government's own Affirmative Action policy which recognises that the absence of adequate childcare facilities prevents many women from realising their full potential in the workplace, and makes a mockery of the Government's policy of urging private employers to provide workbased childcare for their employees.

3. Your petitioners humbly pray that the Government should act promptly to ensure that childcare facilities are included in the plans for the proposed new Customs House Building

And your petitioners as duty bound will ever pray.
