Senator TOWNLEY —I direct my question to the Minister representing the Minister for Communications. Has the Minister's attention been drawn to the fact that in the United States of America there are now public telephones with which a long distance call can be made, the cost of that call can be charged to a credit card and the account of that credit card shows the cost of the call, the date and the phone number called? Has Telecom Australia any plans to introduce such telephones into Australia in the near future? If such details can so easily be shown on, say, a Visa account, how is it that Telecom intends to charge its customers for such a service?

Senator WALSH —I do not know whether Telecom has ever considered such a proposal or has any plans to introduce it. I shall refer the question to the Minister, Mr Duffy, for an answer.
