Senator RYAN (Minister for Education)(11.02) —Senator Reid and Senator Kilgariff both expressed their concern about the conduct of persons involved in a picket outside the South African Embassy. I shall refer their remarks and concerns to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Hayden, and see whether I can get a comment from him on these matters, including the question of the responsibilities of the Australian Government under the Vienna Convention.

Senator Chaney raised matters relating to the Australian flag and Senator Peter Rae expressed his concern and criticisms about the delay in the annual report of the Australian Capital Territory Gaming and Liquor Authority. He has made a number of claims about the lateness of the report and the seriousness of this matter. I shall refer it to the Minister responsible, the Minister for Territories (Mr Scholes).

Question resolved in the affirmative.

Senate adjourned at 11.03 p.m.
