Senator Bolkus asked the Minister representing the Minister for Arts, Heritage and Environment, upon notice, on 20 August 1985:

(1) Who is the current Director-General of the National Library.

(2) When was he appointed.

(3) What are the superannuation arrangements for this person.

Senator Ryan —The Minister for Arts, Heritage and Environment has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

(1) and (2) Mr Warren M. Horton, formerly the State Librarian of Victoria, was appointed as the new Director-General of the National Library of Australia for a period of seven years commencing on 28 July 1985.

(3) Mr Warren Horton will remain a member of the State Superannuation Fund, administered by the State Superannuation Board of Victoria, during his term as Director-General, National Library of Australia. The Commonwealth meets his employer contribution to the fund.
