To the Honourable the President and members of the Senate in Parliament assembled. The petition of the undersigned respectfully showeth:

That the $30 per landing fee (minimum business guarantee) charged to Northern Territory outback property owners under the Federal Government's Remote Air Services Subsidy Scheme is grossly discriminatory to these people;

That many outback residents endure poor or non-existent telephonic services and are, consequently, wholly reliant on Australia Post for communication;

That it is unjust that people who live in isolated areas should have to pay more than those in urban areas to receive and send mail for what most Australians consider a right.

Your petitioners most humbly pray that the Senate, in Parliament assembled, should seek to ensure that remote area residents of the Northern Territory should have equality of access to mail services and that the $30 per delivery landing fee should be terminated.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
