Senator SHORT —I ask the Minister representing the Minister for Communications: Is he aware that as part of the continuing vicious union campaign being waged against the Dollar Sweets Co. Pty Ltd in Melbourne that company's telephone lines were cut more than a month ago? Is he also aware that legal action is to be instituted by the company against Telecom because of Telecom's failure to restore normal telephone services at the plant? Will the Minister take whatever action is within the Government's power to have Telecom instruct its employees to restore normal services as a matter of urgency before the company is forced into liquidation or will the Government continue to acquiesce in the death of this small business by the illegal and undemocratic actions of certain militant unions?

Senator WALSH —I have a briefing from the Minister on this question. It is probably from the Minister for Employment and Industrial Relations. However, that briefing does not cover the specific points that Senator Short has asked about; so the best I can do, I am afraid, is to refer the question to the Minister for Communications for his response.
