Senator MASON —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) deplores and renounces the statements of the Prime Minister inferring that the people of East Timor are Indonesian citizens when no act of supervised self-determination has been permitted there;

(b) regards the Indonesian occupation of East Timor as an act of unjustified conquest of a neighbouring state to which Indonesia has no historic, cultural or ethnic claim; and

(c) urges the Government to promote in the United Nations and to specify in all public statements it might make the requirement for Indonesia to permit an act of self-determination in East Timor.
