Senator BROWNHILL(10.26) —In supporting the remarks of the two previous speakers I would like to make the point that it will really be up to the Commonwealth and State governments to make sure that the trade union movement is responsible at the waterfront so that our wheat products are able to be exported at the right and proper time. The loss to our wheat industry over the years has been rather staggering when one thinks of its importance to the country. That has all been caused by actions at the waterfront. I believe that it is up to both the Federal and State governments to make sure that the export of our wheat is done in a proper way. I think, it is also good that the Minister for Primary Industry (Mr Kerin) has now agreed to allow the amendments to go through. It is good that the growers who produce the crops and who have been under such strain and pressure over the last few years because of growing costs will now have a say in their own industry.

Question resolved in the affirmative.
