Senator LEWIS —My question is to the Leader of the Government in the Senate and relates to the payment this month of an Australian record price of $2.94m for a Canberra service station leasehold site which tops last October's record of $2.61m for a similar site. Is it a fact that petrol far in excess of Australian Capital Territory usage is being invoiced to Australian Capital Territory service stations? Is this surplus being resold or perhaps just simply re-invoiced back into the States free of State taxes to the detriment of State revenues? Has not at least one State complained to the Government about this? Why has not the Government done something about it?

Senator BUTTON —As a member of the Government I have no idea what the honourable senator is talking about. I will find out and give him an answer.
