Senator REYNOLDS —Can the Minister representing the Minister for Health give any logical explanation why the responsibilities of Australia's School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine will be transferred from Sydney University to the Australian National University as reported in the Bulletin on 13 August? When will the Tropical Medicine Research Unit be returned to north Australia where the first research unit was established before the First World War, where serious research of tropical diseases can be carried out first hand instead of in Canberra laboratories thousands of kilometres from the region affected and where no tropical viruses would survive anyway?

Senator GRIMES —I suspect from the firm manner in which Senator Reynolds asks that question that she assumes I have the answer. I am afraid I have not. I will have to get it from the Minister for Health and inform the honourable senator as soon as possible.
