(a) calls upon the Government to seriously and openly, with public consultation, address the questions raised by the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty Review Conference to be held in Geneva beginning at the end of August, with a view to

(i) submitting to the Review Conference a practical multilateral disarmament program;

(ii) supporting all moves to impose a timetable for superpower disarmament; and

(iii) to either propose or support other nations' proposals that the Review Conference resolve to urge immediate conclusion by the superpowers of a comprehensive test ban treaty; and

(b) calls upon the Government to-

(i) recognise the concern and interest of the Australian community in the NPT Review Conference by publicising the positions taken by the Government at the Review;

(ii) sponsor a non-government organisation representative to attend the conference; and

(iii) finance meetings of non-government organisations involved in peace and disarmament, to brief them on the Review and discuss the future of the NPT.
