Senator CHIPP (Leader of the Australian Democrats) —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate notes that-

(a) the important work required to develop and implement multicultural policies requires a national organisation of ethnic communities councils;

(b) the Federation of Ethnic Communities' Councils of Australia provides such a national organisation and has to date achieved remarkable results with meagre resources;

(c) the administrative funding should be supplied by the Federal Government to the Federation of Ethnic Communities' Councils of Australia;

(d) the Hawke Government has maintained the Fraser Government's level of administrative funding, being $50,000; and

(e) the Government should provide at least $90,000 to the Federation of Ethnic Communities' Councils of Australia in the 1984-85 Budget.
