Senator Coleman asked the Minister representing the Minister for Defence, upon notice, on 7 March 1984:

Are there contingency plans to use Australian air bases to launch B52 bombers with nuclear weapons against the Soviet Union if war occurs between the United States and the Soviet Union.


Senator Gareth Evans —The Minister for Defence has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

The Government has no such plans.
