Senator DURACK —My question is directed to the Attorney-General. Has the Government decided to hold a referendum to change the Australian Constitution in conjunction with the next Federal election which it proposes to hold later this year? If so, what questions will go to referendum at the time of the proposed early election? If the Government does not propose to hold a referendum at the time of the election, does it propose to do so at any other time?

Senator GARETH EVANS —The Government has made certain decisions in this respect. They will be announced in due course.

Senator DURACK —I ask a supplementary question. Could the Attorney-General be a little more forthcoming and enlightening as to when the announcement will be made?

Senator GARETH EVANS —No.
