Senator COATES —As Chairman of the Standing Committee on Regulations and Ordinances, I give notice that, 12 sitting days after today, I shall move:

That-

(1) the Workmen's Compensation (Amendment) Ordinance 1983, as contained in Australian Capital Territory Ordinance No. 69 of 1983 and made under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910;

(2) the High Court Direction No. 1 1984, made under the High Court of Australia Act 1979; and

(3) the Dangerous Goods Ordinance 1984, as contained in Australian Capital Territory Ordinance No. 4 of 1984 and made under the Seat of Government ( Administration) Act 1910,

be disallowed.

I seek leave to make a brief statement.

Leave granted.

Senator COATES —These notices of motion relate to delegated legislation in which the Regulations and Ordinances Committee is interested. In each case the Committee has been corresponding with the relevant Minister or authority to obtain a detailed explanation of a particular provision or to suggest the need for possible amendment. As today is the last day on which notice for disallowance may be given, the Committee has decided to give notice to preserve its rights while awaiting replies from the relevant Minister or authority.
